Alleged extortion cop replaced

JAKARTA: Ciputat Police chief Adj. Comr. Zulfan, who has been
under investigation by the National Police's internal affairs
department in relation to a slew of extortion allegations, was
transferred to the Jakarta Police force on Saturday as training
and development unit chief, the city police spokesman Sr. Comr.
Prasetyo announced on Tuesday.

Zulfan was replaced by Adj. Comr. Dani Hamdani, who previously
served at the South Jakarta Police precinct.

Prasetyo said that Zulfan's move had nothing to do with the
allegations.

"It was just a routine rotation," he asserted.

The investigation into Zulfan has not yet finished, he added,
although the internal affairs officers have been investigating
for nearly a month. -- JP
