The Head of Criminal Investigation Division at North Jakarta Metro Police, AKBP Onkoseno Grandiarso Sukahar, explained that the incident has led to two separate reports covering two different cases: alleged confinement and alleged embezzlement and fraud.
“Yes, these are two separate cases. We are conducting investigations into both reports,” he said when confirmed by Kompas.com on Monday, 2 March 2026.
“We at the Metro Police are handling allegations of theft and/or embezzlement as reported by the expedition company,” Sukahar said when contacted by Kompas.com on Monday.
For the alleged confinement case, it is being handled by Tanjung Priok Police Station.
The case remains in the investigation phase and police have already interviewed several witnesses.
“We have clarified with several people, numbering six individuals,” Sukahar said.
Expedition company J&T Express filed a report regarding alleged embezzlement and theft that occurred in Sunter to North Jakarta Metro Police.
“We have reported the embezzlement and theft incident to North Jakarta Metro Police,” said J&T Express legal representatives Adriansyah Halim and Pandapotan Pinbatu in Jakarta on Monday.
The report followed up on alleged detention claims spread by irresponsible parties that sparked public unrest.
“The recording was taken during the internal clarification process,” said Adriansyah.
The video was uploaded to Instagram account @simpul.kepri and was reported to have occurred on Sunday, 8 February 2026 at one of the expedition company’s warehouses.
In the recording, two employees appeared to be sleeping whilst three others were sitting amongst stacks of cardboard boxes inside the warehouse.
