Alleged drug gang caught in Bandung
BANDUNG: Central Bandung Police arrestd a group of alleged
drug dealers in a raid early Wednesday, confiscating a luxurious
sedan, thousands of narcotic-type pills and packages of heroin
and marijuana.
Arrested were four male students -- Tarmizi, 23, Dadang, 26,
Azis, 18, and Nanang Rohana, 18, and 23-year-old pregnant
housewife Susan Anggraeni.
They were arrested on Jl. Gatot Subroto at about 3 a.m.,
Central Bandung Police chief Lt. Col. John Latumeten said.
Police chased the vehicle after it was spotted speeding and
traveling erratically. Officers forced it to pull over and
searched the vehicle.
The police seized 1.5 kilograms of dried marijuana, 130
packages of low-grade heroin known as putaw, 1,000 Rophynol
pills, 4000 nipam pills and thousands of Lexotan pills.
"The group is part of a Jakarta-Tasikmalaya drug syndicate,"
John added.
The suspects have been detained pending further investigation.
