Alleged Corruption in Lombok Sumbawa Motocross: Prosecutors Question Former NTB Inspector
Former West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Inspector Ibnu Salim has been questioned by the NTB High Prosecutor’s Office (Kejati NTB) regarding alleged corruption in the 2023 Lombok Sumbawa Motocross Competition. “I was asked about my duties as a supervisor for the Government Internal Supervisory Apparatus (APIP) as Inspector at the NTB Provincial Government,” Salim said when met at the Kejati NTB office on Wednesday (8/7/2026). He stated that he had ordered an audit of the event, which had a budget of Rp 24 billion, during his tenure as Acting Regional Secretary of NTB in 2024. The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy also approved the audit, which was conducted jointly with the prosecutor’s office. The Inspectorate’s audit report found overpayments to service providers and tax underpayments totalling Rp 2.6 billion. Some of the funds have been recovered, but approximately Rp 800 million remains outstanding from vendors. Salim noted that the Tourism Office, as the event organiser, was responsible for recovering the funds. The head of the office at the time, Jamaluddin Malady, served as the commitment-making official. The High Prosecutor’s Office has previously questioned Jamaluddin Malady and former NTB Regional Secretary Lalu Gita Ariadi. The 2023 Lombok Sumbawa Motocross Competition was held at the Tohpati Sayang-Sayang Circuit in Mataram with a total budget of Rp 24 billion, using funds from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy. Investigations suggest that a significant portion of the budget was misused, with findings including Rp 1.2 billion in overpayments to partners, Rp 404 million in tax shortfalls, Rp 601 million in payment discrepancies by the Indonesian Motor Association (IMI), and Rp 6.2 million in excess official travel expenses.
