Alleged Corruption in 2023 MXGP Event Organisation Enters Investigation Phase

The West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) High Prosecutor’s Office has elevated the status of the alleged corruption case concerning the organisation of the 2023 Motocross Grand Prix (MXGP) to the investigation phase. “Yes, it has been upgraded to an investigation,” said Muhammad Harun Al Rasyid, Head of Public Relations for the NTB High Prosecutor’s Office, on Thursday (23/7/2026). The case was upgraded to the investigation stage on 14 July 2026 after sufficient preliminary evidence was found. Several witnesses have been examined since the case entered the investigation phase, including the MXGP vendor and a regional bank. “Yes, both were examined yesterday regarding the investigation into the alleged corruption in the provision of working capital financing from the regionally owned bank to PT Carsten Group Indonesia in 2023,” he stated. The regional bank was examined because it provided financing for the event to PT Carsten Group Indonesia as the promoter. The NTB High Prosecutor’s Office began its inquiry in 2025, based on a warrant dated 8 October 2025. One of the individuals examined by the special crimes unit was Indrawan Pranacitra, who was questioned on 6 November 2025. The event was also promoted by PT Samota Enduro Gemilang (SEG) alongside PT Carsten Group Indonesia, with both receiving financial assistance from the regional bank. However, problems arose after the event, with reports indicating that vendors who contributed to the event’s success have not been paid, with the total amount owed exceeding IDR 15 billion.
