Allegations Emerge That an Undip Student Was Beaten by 30 Campus Seniors Over Alleged Sexual Harassment
Semarang, Indonesia — Arnendo (20), a student at Universitas Diponegoro (Undip), who is alleged to have been the victim of a beating by dozens of senior students, is being investigated by Undip over allegations of sexual harassment against a female student on campus. The sexual harassment case is said to be the motive for the assault.
‘Terkyait dugaan tindak kekerasan seksual yang melibatkan yang bersangkutan (Arnendo), Universitas Diponegoro berkomitmen untuk menindaklanjuti secara serius melalui mekanisme dan prosedur yang berlaku, serta memberikan pendampingan dan perlindungan kepada pihak korban pelecehan seksual,’ said Nurul Hasfi, Director of the Directorate of Media Networks, Community, and Public Communications at Undip, in a statement received by Republika on Thursday (5 March 2026).
Nurul disclosed that Undip has formed two teams to investigate the case involving Arnendo. ‘Currently Undip has formed two teams, namely an ethics team to investigate the assault case and a sexual violence task force to handle the case of sexual harassment. At present, both teams are working separately,’ he said.
He added that developments in the handling of the Arnendo case would be communicated. Meanwhile, Semarang City Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) has raised the case status to the investigation stage for the alleged beating of Arnendo.
‘For the status of the case, this has been raised to the investigation stage. It is already in the investigation stage,’ said AKBP Andika Dharma Sena, head of the Semarang City Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit, when contacted about the progress of the case at the Semarang City Police Headquarters on Thursday.
He added that in the case, the accused number is quite large, around 20 people. ‘We will delve into their respective roles later to determine what each did,’ he said.
