Ramadan provides a very good opportunity for a Muslim to hasten repentance. Linguistically, taubat (taubah) means ‘to return.’ Its meaning is to return to a state of closeness to and constant remembrance of Allah SWT.

In the course of life, everyone inevitably makes mistakes, whether to Allah or to fellow beings. Islam teaches believers to promptly seek forgiveness when they have wronged others. If one sins and disobeys, they should quickly seek forgiveness from Allah Ta’ala.

In His beautiful Word, Allah calls on His servants:

“O you who believe! Turn to Allah with the most sincere repentance; perhaps your Lord will erase your misdeeds and admit you to gardens beneath which rivers flow, on the day when Allah does not disgrace the Prophet and those who believe with him; their light will shine before them and on their right; they will say, ‘Our Lord, perfect for us our light and forgive us; Surely You are able to do all things.’”
