All RSUDs in Jakarta Already Have Isolation Rooms to Handle Measles
The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government states that all regional general hospitals (RSUDs) in the capital are equipped with isolation rooms to handle several infectious diseases, including measles.
Head of the Prevention and Disease Control Division at the DKI Jakarta Health Service, Sri Puji Wahyuni, said that the provision of isolation rooms is part of the preparedness in the measles Infection Prevention and Control (PPI) procedures at health service facilities.
“For health facilities, vigilance against measles, including readiness for PPI procedures, is already in place, and even RSUDs have isolation rooms for several infectious diseases, including measles,” said Sri Puji Wahyuni when contacted by ANTARA in Jakarta on Friday.
The preparedness of health service facilities and health workers includes screening for measles symptoms such as fever, red rash, cough, runny nose, and red eyes.
If detected, health workers will manage suspected measles cases, including contact management and tracing.
“As of today, there are 43 confirmed measles cases,” said Puji.
Earlier this year, 1,236 suspected measles cases were recorded across the entire DKI Jakarta region, with the highest cases in West Jakarta (398 cases), Central Jakarta (276 cases), and South Jakarta (226 cases).
Meanwhile, North Jakarta recorded 179 cases, East Jakarta 155 cases, and the Thousand Islands two cases.
Last month, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government held a simultaneous catch-up immunisation (IKS) activity for measles in March 2026 to reach children aged 9-59 months who have not yet received immunisation.
The 2026 measles IKS was held because measles cases are still being found and the immunisation status of children in Jakarta indicates that there are still children who have not been fully immunised.
