All Palestinian borders closed in relation to military attack on Iran
Jerusalem — All borders in Palestinian territories have been closed by Israel from Sunday until further notice following a joint military operation by the United States and Israel against Iran.
The border closure decision was announced by the Israeli Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT), including the Rafah crossing, and applies to all Palestinian citizens except those holding “vital worker” permits who are allowed to cross at certain checkpoints.
COGAT stated that the closure of borders to Gaza “will not affect the humanitarian situation” in the territory.
Authorities also emphasised the measure as a response to the joint military operation by the US and Israel against Iran.
Earlier, large explosions were heard and missile fragments fell in several areas of the occupied West Bank following sirens in a number of Israeli settlements, according to Anadolu correspondents.
Palestinian police spokesman Luay Arziqat stated that missile fragments fell at four locations in the West Bank without causing casualties or material damage.
The joint US and Israeli military strike on Iran on Saturday morning was aimed at neutralising what was described as a “threat” from the Iranian regime.
In response to the strike, Iran fired missiles and drones towards Israeli territory and US military bases in the region.
Israel also declared a special emergency status nationwide. Iran affirmed it would provide a strong response to the aggression.
Responding to the escalation of military conflict between the US, Israel, and Iran, the Indonesian Government called on all parties to exercise restraint and prioritise resolution through diplomatic channels.
Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto expressed Indonesia’s readiness to serve as a mediator to promote dialogue between the US, Israel, and Iran.
This statement was made in the context of heightened tensions in the Middle East resulting from the joint US and Israeli military operation against Iran.
