All BTS infrastructure affected by NTT earthquake fully restored

The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Kemkomdigi) has stated that all base transceiver station (BTS) infrastructure affected by the earthquake disaster in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) has now been fully restored and is operating normally again.

Kemkomdigi recorded that 812 sites across 11 districts and cities were affected by the earthquake when the disaster struck on Saturday (15/8).

“As of today, the report regarding connectivity in the earthquake-affected area shows that of the 812 BTS points or sites, 100 percent have been restored,” said Fifi Aleyda Yahya, Director General of Public Communication and Media at Kemkomdigi, at the NTT Provincial Liaison Agency Office in Jakarta on Saturday.

On Tuesday (18/8), Kemkomdigi announced that 99.9 percent of the BTS infrastructure affected by the earthquake in NTT had been restored and was able to provide connectivity for the public.

“The Starlink assistance is certainly intended to provide reinforcement if there are still points that are, for example, affected,” said Fifi.

Kemkomdigi has also distributed 15 tonnes of logistical aid in the form of food, drinks, milk, blankets, mats, and medicines. The aid is being sent to the disaster area in stages starting today through the NTT Provincial Liaison Agency.

“God willing, what we are providing today — necessities such as food supplies and other logistics — can help ease the burden on those affected by the earthquake in NTT,” said Fifi.

An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.0 shook the Flores Island region of NTT on Saturday (15/8) at 05:58 WITA.

As a rapid response, the central government deployed all resources from ministries and agencies to accelerate emergency response handling of the natural disaster. This measure was a direct instruction from President Prabowo Subianto, followed up through the division of tasks under the coordination of the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Cultural Affairs (Kemenko PMK).
