All Bodies of Adonara Clash Victims Successfully Evacuated
All the bodies of victims of the bloody clash in East Adonara, East Flores, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), have been successfully evacuated, including one that had lain on the road and was finally taken to Adonara Pratama Hospital.
East Flores Police Chief AKBP Adhitya Octorio Putra confirmed this and said the victims had been taken to the morgue for identification and post-mortem examination (visum et repertum) following negotiations with the regional leadership coordination forum (Forkopimda) and community leaders.
“The body has (successfully) been taken to Pratama Hospital,” Adhitya said when contacted by CNNIndonesia.com on Saturday afternoon (18/7).
The victim was a man aged around 60, a resident of Narasaosina village, who was believed to have died after being slashed during a clash between two groups of youths on Saturday (18/7) morning.
“We are currently waiting for a coffin so the body can be handed over to the family by Forkopimda,” he said.
He revealed that the clash between two groups of youths from Lewonara hamlet in Narasosina village and Bele hamlet in Waeburak village, East Adonara subdistrict, left three people dead.
Adhitya said the three dead were two residents of Narasaosina village and one resident of Waeburak village.
Of the three victims, two were already with their respective families — one from Narasaosina village and the other a resident of Waeburak village.
Meanwhile, one body of a victim who died from slash wounds remained lying on the Waiburak road, in front of the Waiburak mosque, until 14.00 Central Indonesia Time, blocked by the crowd despite medical personnel and an ambulance being at the scene.
After negotiations, the crowd finally allowed the body to be taken to the hospital.
Meanwhile, the situation at the clash site has gradually recovered, with people beginning to return to their homes. However, dozens of fully armed security personnel from the military (TNI) and police remain on guard at the location.
Separately, Commander of the NTT Police Mobile Brigade (Brimob) Unit, Kombes Afrizal Asri, said 32 Brimob personnel from Maumere were on their way to the clash site.
“There are 32 personnel being redeployed to Adonara,” Afrizal said when contacted on Saturday afternoon.
The cause of the clash is said to still be under investigation.
