The Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, has stated that all 2027 Hajj officials are required to undergo training and education, or ‘diklat’, in barracks before being dispatched to Saudi Arabia. This policy is one of the outcomes of the evaluation of the 2026 Hajj implementation, particularly regarding services during the peak phase of Hajj at Arafat, Muzdalifah, and Mina (Armuzna). According to Dahnil, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah found significant differences between officials who had undergone training and regional officials who had not received such preparation.

“We are fully aware that there are aspects of service that must be improved, especially in Armuzna. Therefore, moving forward, we will ensure that all officials must participate in training,” said Dahnil following a joint statement with the Hajj Organising Committee (PPIH) of Saudi Arabia in Makkah on Wednesday (3/6/2026).

Dahnil explained that the obligation to undergo training will apply to all elements of the Hajj officials without exception, ranging from the Hajj Organising Committee (PPIH) in Saudi Arabia, Regional Hajj Officials (PHD), group staff, to embarkation officials. According to him, there have been instances where officials recruited through regional mechanisms did not undergo training equivalent to those recruited nationally. However, field experience shows that the quality of service is heavily influenced by the readiness of officials before they begin their duties.
