The Chair of the 35th Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Muktamar Programme Commission, Alissa Wahid, has emphasised that the drafting of the NU 2026–2050 Roadmap represents the organisation’s long-term strategic direction. This vision will be the full responsibility of the new management elected during the 35th NU Muktamar.

Alissa explained that the roadmap is designed as a continuation of the leadership direction following the Lampung Muktamar. This document will serve as a working reference for the elected Rais Aam and General Chairperson for the upcoming period.

“It will be the vision of the Rais Aam and the General Chairperson elected at the 35th Muktamar; the main outlines of this programme must serve as a reference and will be accounted for throughout the term of leadership, through the National Consultative Meetings (Munas-Konbes) and later through the 36th Muktamar in 2031,” Alissa Wahid stated during a press conference in Jakarta on Thursday (3/9).

According to Alissa, the primary focus of the NU 2026-2050 Roadmap is comprehensive organisational strengthening. This step is considered crucial as NU has entered its second century, facing much more complex dynamic challenges.

These challenges encompass various aspects, ranging from the digital era and global geopolitical shifts to the psychological developments of modern society. Consequently, the Executive Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) is required to continue transforming and conducting internal consolidation to meet the needs of the era.

In the roadmap, Alissa detailed four main pillars focused on strengthening NU’s khidmah (service). “This is an internal responsibility, directed towards NU members, who constitute 57 per cent of the Muslim population in Indonesia,” she added.

In addition to the internal focus, Alissa emphasised that NU remains committed to its responsibility towards the nation and the world. As one of the largest social and community forces in Indonesia, serving global peace and national progress remains an integral part of the organisation’s future direction.
