Jakarta (ANTARA) - The e-commerce platform Alibaba.com has launched the Trade Assurance service in Indonesia to ensure the security of cross-border digital trade for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). “Trade Assurance not only protects buyers but also sellers or exporters, making the cross-border trade process more guaranteed, safer, and easier from order to payment and delivery,” said Head of Global Supply Chain Services at Alibaba.com, Summer Gao, in Jakarta on Wednesday. Summer explained that one of the main aspects of the Trade Assurance service is its payment system. The platform provides more than 20 payment options and supports over 45 currencies. In addition, this service is designed to address trust issues that often arise between sellers and buyers in cross-border trade. According to Summer, in conventional export-import transactions, trust is usually built through direct meetings. However, this is difficult to implement in digital trade. Furthermore, this feature is equipped with an online order tracking system, where sellers can upload shipping documents, while buyers can monitor the shipment status in real time. After the goods are received, buyers can verify the quality according to the contract before the payment is forwarded to the seller. From the business actors’ perspective, Trade Assurance also increases the visibility of their products on the platform. Recorded transactions will serve as a track record to build trust with other buyers. As a result, the number of visits, inquiries, and repeat orders can be increased. “All this support and promotions aim to help more Indonesian exporters complete the orders they receive without feeling worried,” said Summer.
