Alibaba Cloud Expands AI and Cloud Business in Indonesia, Eyes Strategic Sectors
Alibaba Cloud strengthens its expansion in Indonesia through additional investments in cloud technology and artificial intelligence (AI), while also forging new partnerships with a number of national companies. In its latest announcement, Alibaba Cloud has linked with major firms such as PosIND, BULOG, and PT Agrinesia Raya to support cloud- and AI-based digital transformation across various industry sectors. Sean Yuan, Country Manager of Alibaba Cloud Indonesia, said Indonesia has become a strategic market as demand from companies for AI implementation and cloud services grows. ‘As more Indonesian companies begin to explore agentic AI to drive their business growth, Alibaba Cloud is proud to be a trusted partner in their transformation,’ Yuan said at a media event in Jakarta, on Wednesday (20/5/2026). PosIND is one of the companies leveraging Alibaba Cloud services to strengthen a cloud-native logistics platform amid rising shipping volumes and increasing complexity of the national supply chain. The implementation is claimed to be able to triple peak transaction processing capacity while also speeding application response times and improving operational efficiency. Meanwhile, BULOG uses Alibaba Cloud infrastructure to support nationwide food aid distribution through a more secure and scalable system. PT Agrinesia Raya utilises Alibaba Cloud’s cloud and AI services to centralise the company’s information technology systems, while also developing AI-based innovation foundations. Alibaba Cloud has also expanded its AI talent development programme in Indonesia. Over the past year, the company has conducted generative AI roadshows in nine cities and collaborated with 60 communities as well as local universities. The programme has involved more than 500 participants and produced more than 500 cloud certifications for local tech talent. On the technology front, Alibaba Cloud plans to introduce the latest AI models such as the large language model (LLM) Qwen, supporting multimodal capabilities from text, images, audio to video. The company will also bring other AI solutions such as Wan video-generation model and Happy Horse, the Qoder coding development platform, and AI-based cybersecurity systems. Alibaba Cloud also announced it has achieved the highest cybersecurity rating from the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) with an ‘Innovative’ level or Level 5 under the Cyber Security Maturity Assessment Instrument (IKAS).
