With the entry of foreign military forces to provide aid, it
is appropriate for the government and the Indonesian Military
(TNI) to remain alert to the possibility of the foreign side or
the separatist Free Aceh Movement (GAM) benefiting from the
situation.

If the foreign supplies sent to Aceh are not subject to prior
inspection, some of them may contain arms for GAM. So, ways
should be sought to prevent any harmful use of this opportunity.

Therefore, the government and TNI should optimize the role of
intelligence in monitoring donations given to survivors of the
recent tsunami disaster in Aceh, particularly those in the form
of foreign supplies.

We all want the restoration of normal living conditions in
Aceh following the calamity as well as the elimination of GAM
separatists from the region.
