The tsunami warning for several regions in Indonesia, triggered by a strong earthquake in the southern Philippines, has been officially lifted. According to the official website of the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the tsunami threat ended at approximately 10:15 WIB.

“The TSUNAMI early warning caused by the magnitude 7.7 earthquake on 08-Jun-26 at 06:37:42 WIB is declared to have ended,” stated the BMKG, referring to the earthquake located 224 kilometres northwest of Karatung Island, North Sulawesi.

Previously, the earthquake in the Philippines triggered tsunami warnings across four countries, including the Philippines, Indonesia, Taiwan, and Papua New Guinea. In Indonesia, the BMKG reported that the earthquake caused minor tsunamis in Loloda-West Halmahera (0.09 m), Melonguane-Talaud Islands (0.19 m), and Ulusia-Sitaro (0.18 m). Approximately 17 regions were placed under alert status, while another 13 were placed on standby.

The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) had previously urged residents in coastal areas to increase vigilance. The regions advised to remain cautious included the coasts of North Sulawesi, North Maluku, Gorontalu, Central Sulawesi, and East Kalimantan.
