The East Java Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) has readied various supporting facilities for disaster management, following a warning from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) that the peak of the dry season is expected to occur from July to August 2026. “We have prepared various disaster management necessities in East Java; in fact, this year’s preparedness is far greater than the previous year,” said Head of East Java BPBD Gatot Subroto in Surabaya on Wednesday (22/7). For handling potential disasters during the dry season, his agency has prepared a range of facilities and infrastructure, including water tanker trucks, high-capacity pumps, logistics vehicles, and communication equipment ready to be deployed in the event of fires. Gatot stated that this equipment belongs to the East Java BPBD, not including that held by BPBDs across all regions in East Java. All equipment has been confirmed to be fully operational by all personnel. “All commands carried out by leaders in their respective regions, as well as at the provincial level, are ensured to be executed swiftly and accurately by all BNPB apparatus in East Java,” he said. In handling the peak of this dry season, BPBD cannot work alone. He said BPBD is collaborating with the Indonesian National Armed Forces, the Indonesian National Police, the Civil Service Police Unit, and several related parties for a massive effort in disaster management.
