Alert for Heavy Rain in Cianjur Over the Next Two Days

The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Cianjur Regency, West Java, has noted that the entire Cianjur area is prone to heavy rain over the next two days, based on information from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG). Consequently, communities in disaster-prone areas are urged to remain on alert.

The Head of Emergency and Logistics at BPBD Cianjur, Samudra Wira Purnama, stated on Friday (11/9) that BMKG has issued early warnings for several areas in West Java, particularly Cianjur. He urged residents, especially those in high-risk zones such as Cibeber, Campaka, Mande, and several areas in southern Cianjur, to stay vigilant and closely monitor signs of potential disasters.

He also requested that managers of tourist attractions and motorists travelling along Cianjur’s main routes be wary of the potential for heavy rain over the next two days. He noted that during heavy rainfall, several points along the main Cianjur route—from Puncak to Cianjur—are prone to natural disasters, including landslides, floods, and fallen trees, specifically along the Puncak-Cipanas and Cipanas-Cugenang highways.

Motorists are advised to increase their preparedness and caution, suggesting it is safer to stop in a secure location when heavy rain occurs, and to avoid parking or stopping under trees that are at risk of falling. According to BMKG data, Cianjur Regency is categorised as being on alert for heavy rain predicted for the next two days.
