SINGAPORE (AFP): U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright arrived yesterday on a two-day trip aimed at strengthening bilateral ties with Singapore, a strong supporter of U.S. military presence in Asia.
She was scheduled to tour the local manufacturing facility of U.S. computer disk-drive maker Seagate Technology and hold talks with Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong, Senior Minister Lee Kuan Yew and Foreign Minister S. Jayakumar later yesterday.
Albright's visit follows her participation in a dialog this week in Kuala Lumpur between the ASEAN grouping and its international partners.
