Albania Opens Doors for Skilled Indonesian Workers

Indonesia and Albania have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in the labour protection sector, opening opportunities for Indonesian citizens seeking to work in Albania. Albania’s Minister of Economy and Innovation, Delina Ibrahimaj, stated that the bilateral cooperation could fulfil her country’s demand for skilled workers. “I am very pleased that we have reached this signing, and I am confident that the demand for skilled labour in Albania will be met through further cooperation we will continue with the ministry in Indonesia,” she said at the P2MI office in Jakarta on Thursday (30/7/2026). She explained that the agreement between herself and Indonesia’s Minister for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI), Mukhtarudin, would allow Indonesian citizens to come and work in Albania safely, in a controlled manner, and ethically. It will also protect the interests of Indonesian citizens and the business community in Albania. Delina also expressed hope that the MoU would be a new step in strengthening bilateral relations. The signing and the speed of reaching the agreement signal not only economic utilisation but also the political will of both Indonesia and Albania. “I very much hope that from this MoU, the minister can visit Albania so that we can follow up on the MoU and operationalise it as soon as possible this autumn with a forum, a business forum, but also a technical agreement,” she said. Mukhtarudin stated that the agreement targets formal sector workers. Following the MoU signing, both countries will hold follow-up meetings to discuss technical details, including the jobs and sectors required. He added that the placement of Indonesian workers in Albania would occur in the near future. “And later, after today’s MoU signing, we will hold a follow-up technical meeting for job matching, then business matching, and then we will strengthen which sectors and what competencies are needed, as a follow-up to today’s MoU,” he explained.
