ALatieF to set up new hotel in Ujungpandang
JAKARTA (JP): ALatieF Corporation, a private firm owned by
Minister of Manpower Abdul Latief, will expand its hotel business
to Ujungpandang in South Sulawesi through its subsidiary PT
Pasaraya Hotel International.
ALatieF's president, Usman Ja'far, said here yesterday that
Pasaraya, which currently owns two hotels, will sign an agreement
in January with Hyatt International to manage the planned five-
star Ujungpandang hotel.
"The hotel's construction is expected to begin in the middle
of 1996, while completion is projected in the next two years," he
said.
The investment for the hotel's establishment may reach Rp 200
billion.
The two hotels owned by ALatieF which are currently in
operation are the three-star Ambhara (70 percent controlled by
Pasaraya and 30 percent by the Air Force foundation) in Jakarta
and the four-star Timika Sheraton (66.67 percent owned by
Pasaraya and 33.33 percent by PT Freeport) in Irian Jaya.
Ja'far also said that Pasaraya has set up PT Aeroraya, a joint
venture hotel management company, to manage the three hotels.
Aeroraya, which currently manages the Ambhara Hotel, is 80
percent owned by Pasaraya and 20 percent by PT Aerowisata, a
subsidiary of the country's flag carrier Garuda Indonesia. (icn)
