Residents of Balongbendo, Sidoarjo, were alarmed by the discovery of used projectiles scattered along Singkalan Road, specifically in front of the Singkalan petrol station in Balongbendo District. The projectiles are suspected to still be active.

The discovery was first made by a resident named Novi, a waste collector from Bakung Temenggungan Village, Balongbendo District, on Thursday (28 May 2026) afternoon. At the time, Novi was refuelling a three-wheeled vehicle at the Singkalan petrol station.

Balongbendo Police Chief Kompol Sugeng Sulistiyono stated that officers were immediately deployed following a community report about projectiles scattered on the road.

Sugeng explained that witness Novi initially collected the items due to suspicion. After gathering them into a plastic bag, the witness reported the find to the petrol station security personnel, who then notified Balongbendo Police.

β€œThe used projectiles weigh approximately 1.5 kilograms and have been secured by the Reskrim Unit of Balongbendo Police for documentation and the creation of an evidence report,” said Kompol Sugeng Sulistiyono.

After receiving the report from the public, Sugeng immediately ordered Sabhara and Reskrim officers to inspect the scene and secure the found items.

Initial checks at the scene revealed used projectiles without casings scattered along the roadside in front of the Singkalan petrol station. Police are still investigating the origin of the projectiles, and no one has come forward to claim ownership or report the items to Balongbendo Police.
