Alarm Over Infant Girl's Body Found in Kuta's Tukad Mati River
Residents were alarmed by the discovery of a dead infant girl’s body floating in the Tukad Mati river on Tuan Lange Street, Kuta, Badung, Bali. Police Public Relations Chief of Denpasar Police Department, Iptu Gede Adi Saputra Jaya, said on Sunday (24 May 2026): ‘A female infant’s body has been found in the Tukad Mati river, Tuan Lange Street, Kuta, Badung, Bali.’ Adi stated the body was first discovered by Firman around 4:00 PM WITA on Saturday (23 May). Firman then informed the owner of a guesthouse named I Made Cakra, who reported the floating body to police. Shortly after, Denpasar Police Department officers arrived at the scene and conducted a crime scene investigation. According to Adi, the infant’s body was lying on a mattress and floating at an angle to the left. ‘The victim was found nude, with the right side of her body blue-tinged,’ Adi added. Police confirmed the infant’s organs were intact, with no signs of violence on her body. ‘The victim’s organs were intact, with the umbilical cord still attached, but the placenta was missing,’ Adi said. ‘No signs of blunt or sharp force trauma were found on the victim’s body,’ he added. Adi said the infant’s body was transported to Prof. Ngurah Rai General Hospital in Denpasar for autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
