Alarm as Black Bag Containing Strong Drugs Found in East Jakarta Alley
JAKARTA — Residents in Pinang Ranti, Makasar District, East Jakarta, were alarmed by the discovery of a black bag left in front of an alley, later found to contain hundreds of tramadol tablets, a strong medication.
The bag was first spotted by children playing near the location on Thursday (28 May 2026).
The discovery drew public attention and was reported to the police.
“The children brought it to the women, who opened it in front of neighbours to see it contained Category G drugs, then reported it to the local police station,” Sumardi said when contacted on Thursday (28 May 2026).
Upon receiving the report, police immediately visited the scene to process the crime scene and secure the evidence.
Authorities are currently investigating the bag’s owner, as it was found lying in front of an alley.
Meanwhile, a video circulating on the Instagram account info_pinang_ranti showed residents opening the black bag and discovering what are believed to be Category G drugs — prescription-only medications requiring a doctor’s prescription.
Police have yet to confirm the origin of the hundreds of strong drugs and are continuing their investigation into the incident that has alarmed local residents.
