Al Washliyah Congress a Moment for Ideological and Organisational Consolidation
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Islamic organisation Jamiyatul Al Washliyah is holding its 13th Congress at the Pondok Gede Hajj Dormitory in Jakarta on Wednesday, marking a crucial moment for ideological and organisational consolidation.
“We hope this 13th Congress will not only be a succession event, but also a space for total consolidation to produce concrete recommendations for the benefit of the ummah, the nation, and the state,” said Congress Organising Committee Chairman Ahmad Doli Tanjung in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Ahmad Doli affirmed that Al Washliyah is now present in all 38 provinces of Indonesia. In line with the organisation’s founding spirit, the congress also serves as a momentum to strengthen its service in education, preaching, and economic empowerment.
General Chairman of the Al Washliyah Central Board Masyhuril Khamis stressed that education remains the organisation’s primary mission. However, the moral challenges facing society are also a serious concern.
Additionally, Al Washliyah is pushing to improve public welfare as part of its preaching mission. The organisation aims to be an active participant in realising an advanced Indonesia.
“Another focus of Al Washliyah’s struggle is strengthening the people’s welfare towards an advanced Indonesia. Prosperous in material wealth, strong in faith, and noble in character,” he said.
Meanwhile, People’s Consultative Assembly Speaker Ahmad Muzani praised Al Washliyah’s role, noting that its cadres reach the grassroots level, spreading the organisation’s spirit through preaching, education, and social empowerment.
“Just imagine, if there were no religious organisations like Al Washliyah, how heavy the state’s burden would be to educate the nation’s children,” he said.
Muzani also commended the dedication of Al Washliyah teachers who serve in remote areas despite economic limitations.
“Al Washliyah has thousands of cadres teaching in their own madrasas under concerning conditions. Yet their spirit of service remains high because for them, teaching is not just about seeking worldly gain, but also the hereafter,” he said.
Over the three-day event, participants will discuss organisational strengthening, character education, religious moderation, hajj service transformation, legal status of community assets, community-based economics, and optimising zakat for education and teacher welfare.
