Al Lathiif Mosque in Cilincing Rebuilt for Kampung Baru Residents
The Al Lathiif Mosque in Kampung Baru, Cilincing, North Jakarta, has begun reconstruction after previously being known as the Al Karomah Mosque. The development is intended to provide a more proper place of worship for residents and to support Quranic studies for around 75 children who have been attending classes at the mosque.
Masjid Nusantara (MN) is collaborating with the Cinta Qur’an Foundation (CQF) and Kitabisa on the reconstruction of Al Lathiif Mosque. The construction is supported by donors Dwi Ratna and her family.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the reconstruction of Al Lathiif Mosque took place on Sunday (20/09/2026) and was attended by Dwi Ratna and her family. In her speech, Dwi Ratna stated that the mosque’s construction is expected to bring benefits to the community.
She expressed hope that Al Lathiif Mosque would eventually become a more comfortable place of worship and be used more extensively for religious activities.
Representing the Al Lathiif Mosque Management Council (DKM), Ustadz Masnur noted that the previous mosque site presented unique challenges, specifically that the lower section of the former mosque was situated above water. He hopes the reconstruction will provide a more suitable place of worship for the people of Kampung Baru.
Muhammad Hibat, representing Kitabisa, mentioned that Kitabisa volunteers had previously been involved in teaching activities at Al Lathi.if Mosque. He expressed his appreciation for the collaboration in the mosque’s reconstruction.
Meanwhile, Bobby, representing the CQF, expressed hope that the community would continue to provide space for the social and educational activities conducted by CQF in Kampung Baru. He also reflected on the name ‘Al Lathiif’, which means ‘The Most Gentle’, expressing his hope that the community would always maintain gentle hearts.
Suryati, representing Masjid Nusantara, stated that the reconstruction of Al Lathiif Mosque is hoped to be the beginning of a place of worship that provides broader benefits to the Kampung Baru community. “Hopefully, this mosque will become a light for this village and serve as a medium for the birth of a righteous generation,” said Suryati.
The groundbreaking ceremony also coincided with the birthday of Dwi Ratna’s father. During the event, prayers for well-being in this world and the hereafter were offered for him.
The event continued with the laying of the first brick to mark the start of the Al Lathiif Mosque reconstruction. The activities concluded with the distribution of basic food packages to the local community.
