Al Azhar Young Hafiz Quran Recitation Draws Praise from Education Activist Dina Mulyana

The recitation of holy Quranic verses echoed solemnly at the Istiqlal Mosque hall in Jakarta on Tuesday (10/6/2026). Before parents, teachers, and invited guests, dozens of early childhood pupils from TK Islam Al Azhar 1 Kebayoran Baru confidently recited their memorised passages. Even at their tender age, their ability to memorise the Quran brought both deep emotion and pride to everyone witnessing it. This special moment took place during a Tasyakuran Tahfizh event attended by Indonesian Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar. Also present were Chairman of the Al Azhar Islamic Boarding School Foundation (YPI) Dr Fuad Bawazier, Head of TK Islam Al Azhar Pusat Kebayoran Baru Hani Bawazier, teachers, and parents whose faces radiated unceasing happiness. The solemn atmosphere was palpable from the start of the event as the young hafiz recited Surah An-Naba together. The reverence became even more memorable when the Minister of Religious Affairs, who also serves as the Grand Imam of Istiqlal Mosque, personally draped award sashes on the young Quran memorisers. The initially deeply solemn mood then shifted into a warm and cheerful one when Nasaruddin Umar delivered his speech. With his characteristically familiar style and occasionally using child-friendly language, he engaged the young hafiz in dialogue. The children’s innocent laughter erupted, melting the atmosphere and making the event feel closer to the hearts of those in attendance. Among the guests present, education activist Dina Mulyana admitted she was impressed with the children’s achievements. According to her, the ability to memorise the Quran at an early age is not merely an academic feat, but rather a major investment for the future of the nation.
