Al-Azhar Grand Mosque prepares contingency plans for Eid al-Adha prayers in case of rain
The management of Al-Azhar Grand Mosque in South Jakarta has prepared contingency arrangements for the 1447 Hijri Eid al-Adha prayers in case of rain. “Our preparations are as usual, including technical arrangements, staff readiness, and contingency planning for weather conditions,” said Tatang Komara, Head of Al-Azhar Grand Mosque, on Tuesday. He added that the Eid committee was formed well in advance, involving various stakeholders within the mosque. If weather permits, prayers will be held at the main mosque field. However, if rain makes the field muddy or uncomfortable for worshippers, services will move indoors or to other available areas within the complex. “If the weather is not conducive, such as a muddy field, we will relocate to the mosque and other designated areas,” Tatang explained. The mosque aims to accommodate 12,000 to 13,000 attendees for this year’s Eid prayers. Management has also appointed former Muhammadiyah and MUI chairman Din Syamsuddin as the Eid al-Adha imam.
