Al-Azhar Grand Mosque aims to collect 12 cattle and 50 goats for Qurban
JAKARTA (ANTARA) - The management of Al-Azhar Grand Mosque in South Jakarta aims to collect 12 cattle and 50 goats for Qurban during the 1447 Hijriah Eid al-Adha. ‘We aim for 50 goats and 12 cattle,’ said Tatang Komara, head of Al-Azhar Grand Mosque’s office, during an interview in Jakarta on Tuesday. So far, he said, the mosque has received nine cattle and 35 goats. The mosque is optimistic the number will increase up to one day before Eid al-Adha. He also confirmed all received animals have undergone health checks and are accompanied by disease-free certificates. ‘For the cattle, we have health certificates confirming they are healthy and free from anthrax and other diseases,’ Tatang said. Additionally, the mosque has arranged for a veterinarian to be present during slaughter to ensure the organs are safe for consumption. The mosque has also prepared an eco-friendly waste management system for the 1447 Hijriah Eid al-Adha. Waste such as internal organs, intestines, and animal faeces will be disposed of in specially prepared pits. Tatang said the pits have been treated with a decomposition agent to ensure waste breaks down quickly without emitting foul odours. ‘We have prepared the pits, added the decomposition agent, and will cover them once all waste is deposited,’ Tatang explained. He added this method also ensures the surrounding environment remains clean and healthy during the slaughter process.
