AKSI Digital Initiative Complements PP Tunas Efforts to Protect Children in Digital Spaces

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Google and YouTube are continuing their initiative known as AKSI Digital to protect children in digital spaces, in alignment with the implementation of PP Tunas, by releasing the Digital Well Educated/Well-being Guidebook intended as a guide for families and school communities.

This Digital Well-being Guidebook is the result of a collaboration with the Indonesian Association of Psychiatrists (PDSKJI), along with Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital, the University of Indonesia, and the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kemkomdigi).

“Today we are launching the digital well-being guidebook as a guide designed to help parents and teachers accompany children in the digital era. With this book, we hope mothers and parents can be more confident in facing questions from children, who are now growing up to be increasingly critical,” said the Minister of Communication and Digital, Meutya Hafid, during the book launch in Jakarta on Monday.

In addition to the book launch, through AKSI Digital, parents and community members in attendance also received digital literacy training from ICT Watch. Furthermore, they were introduced to various practical tools to assist in supervising teenagers while accessing YouTube, such as duration controls for YouTube Shorts and Bedtime Reminders.

In a broader collaboration, the book launch is not limited to a single event but is also integrated with official competency enhancement programmes through the Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDM) of the Ministry of Communication and Digital and the Jakarta Provincial Office for Child Empowerment and Population Control (DPAPP).

These training sessions target 2,500 Guidance and Counselling (BK) teachers, who serve as the frontline in the school ecosystem, to help mentor teenagers to be wise when engaging in digital spaces.

“By working shoulder to shoulder through initiatives like AKSI Digital, we can ensure that future generations have the knowledge and resilience they need to thrive in the digital era,” said Celeste Campbell-Pitt, Director of Government Affairs and Public Policy for YouTube APAC.
