AKRA Ready to Support Mandatory B50 Biodiesel Programme
Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT AKR Corporindo Tbk (AKRA) has stated it is ready to support the implementation of the mandatory B50 biodiesel programme, as demonstrated by the company’s infrastructure readiness.
“We always support the government in the B50 programme. In terms of infrastructure, we are also ready,” said AKRA’s Head of Investor Relations, Ignatius Teguh Prayoga, at the Public Expose Live 2026 press conference in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Teguh explained that AKRA is prepared to implement B50, reflected in the readiness of its blending facilities and the capacity of AKRA’s terminals to accommodate additional allocations of fatty acid methyl ester (FAME).
FAME is the main component or active substance in biodiesel, serving as a vegetable-based fuel that replaces or blends with fossil diesel.
“Because diesel itself requires FAME. So, when this B50 is implemented, we are ready in terms of infrastructure,” said Teguh.
Indonesia officially implemented the B50 mandate in July 2026 as an effort to reduce carbon emissions and achieve national energy security.
According to data from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), the implementation of B50 in 2026 is estimated to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by around 44.46 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent.
That figure represents an increase from the foreign exchange savings and emission reductions achieved under the B40 programme in 2025.
The Ministry of ESDM recorded that the distribution of 50 per cent biodiesel fuel (B50) stood at around 75-80 per cent as of 31 August 2026.
“In terms of total distribution, the figure is between 75 and 80 per cent. However, Pertamina’s petrol stations have already reached 90 per cent,” said Eniya Listiani Dewi, Director General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (Dirjen EBTKE) at the Ministry of ESDM.
Eniya said the Ministry of ESDM continues to monitor the distribution of B50.
She added that the government is committed to intensifying monitoring and evaluation (monev), as the programme is intended to be executed carefully.
The Ministry of ESDM targets 100 per cent B50 distribution at all petrol stations to be achieved by 1 October 2026.
