Akpol Class of 1991 Alumni Hold Iftar, Emphasise Kapolri's Message on the Spirit of Silaturahmi
Alumni of the Police Academy (Akpol) Class of 1991, or the Bhara Daksa 1991 Akpol Alumni Association, held a breaking-fast gathering with the theme ‘Guyub Rukun Sak Lawase Berkah Sedoyone’. The event was one expression of the message from Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo regarding the strength of silaturahmi.
“The Police Chief reminds us all that maintaining the ties of silaturahmi is the main strength in preserving unity. This message is very relevant, especially in the Holy Month of blessings,” said Komjen Mohammad Iqbal, Chairman of the Bhara Daksa 1991 Akpol Alumni, quoted by detikcom in a written statement on Wednesday (4/3/2026).
Head of Internal Oversight of the Police (Irwasum Polri) Komjen Wahyu Widada, Chief of the Criminal Investigation Agency (Kabareskrim) Komjen Syahardiantono, the Police’s Deputy Operations Chief (Astamaops) Komjen Fadil Imran, and dozens of Akpol Class of 1991 alumni were seen attending the iftar gathering held on Monday (2/3). They were accompanied by their wives.
“I invite all my fellow officers, regardless of our current positions, to make this silaturahmi a necessity to strengthen one another. If we are cohesive and caring for one another, God willing our institution will grow stronger in facing any dynamics,” Iqbal said.
He noted that the message on the strength of silaturahmi was delivered by General Sigit during the distribution of takjil and breaking fast with the press at Mabes Polri. Iqbal said that in the midst of a heavy information flow and the potential for division triggered by negative content, sincere togetherness becomes the firm defence of a Polri that is solid.
In this event, Komjen Iqbal affirmed full support for General Sigit’s leadership. The former Riau Police Chief emphasised that the unity of the corps is not merely a slogan, but a foundation that must be preserved, especially while the institution is being tested.
“He is currently leading in a difficult field, and our alumni are known as tough and solid. Our duty is to pray and give positive support. This is not about who leads, but about how we all safeguard our shared home,” he concluded.
Komjen Iqbal, who serves as the Secretary-General of the Indonesian Senate (DPD RI) in daily duties, said General Sigit has taken several strategic steps in responding to public dynamics. For instance, recently he stressed that Polri is open to criticism in order to realise the reform mandate of civilian policing that is close to and loved by the people. This is a statesmanlike stance that deserves our support. Indeed, with such openness, Polri will be stronger,” Iqbal explained.
The iftar gathering also began with a sermon by the Deputy General Chairman of the Indonesian Ulama Council (MUI), Kiai Haji Marsudi Syuhud. “As we fast in this Ramadan month, we are, without realising it, reprogramming ourselves, our families, wives, children, members, and our unity, to become people who are successful and great,” Marsudi said.
