AKP Siti Dedicates Hoegeng Award to Family: 'Son, Forgive Mama for Rarely Coming Home'
AKP Siti Elminawati has received the Hoegeng Award 2026 in the category of Police Protector of Women, Children, and Vulnerable Groups. Siti stated that this award is inseparable from the prayers of her husband and her child.
The Unit Head of Sub-division 4, Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Central Sulawesi Regional Police (Polda Sulteng), expressed an apology to her child for rarely returning home while performing her policing duties. “This is a prayer from my loved ones, including my husband and my children who are watching tonight. My child, forgive mama; from birth until this very moment, mama has rarely come home,” said AKP Siti during the peak night of the Hoegeng Awards 2026 at The Tribrata Darmawangsa, South Jakarta, on Friday (31/7/2026).
Siti’s voice faltered momentarily as she struggled with emotion upon receiving the award. She admitted that she spends the majority of her time performing her duties as a police officer to serve the community. She shared this in the presence of the Chief of the Indonesian National Police, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, during the event. Siti noted that she has had a long career in criminal investigation (Reskrim).
“Because, with your permission, General, throughout my service, I have been in criminal investigation and in the field. Therefore, my life as a housewife has not been maximal; what has been maximal is my dedication to the Indonesian National Police,” she revealed.
She stated that the Hoegeng Award she received today is also dedicated to investigators in the Protection of Women and Children (PPA) unit. “Keep fighting, stay spirited, and remain consistent. Because everything we do will surely yield results,” she said.
General Sigit asked Siti if she had any personal requests after receiving the Hoegeng Award. Siti requested that her daughter be able to continue her legacy by becoming a female police officer (Polwan).
“Perhaps a personal request?” asked General Sigit.
“Ready, with your permission, General, if you would permit it—to repay the fact that I, as a mother, have lacked time—I request that my daughter may enter the Indonesian National Police just as I have,” replied Siti.
