AKBP Bayu Pati Awarded for Conflict Mediation in Tabanan
Tabanan Police Chief AKBP I Putu Bayu Pati has achieved the ‘Anugerah Figur Akselerator Kemajuan’ award in the category of Facilitator for Deliberative Conflict Resolution at the detikBali-Nusra Awards 2026. The award was received by Tabanan Deputy Police Chief Kompol I Ketut Tomiyasa on behalf of AKBP Bayu Pati at The Trans Resort Bali on Friday (3/7/2026).
The award was presented in recognition of AKBP Bayu Pati’s success in prioritising deliberation and mediation to resolve various social conflicts in the Tabanan Regency. This approach is credited with maintaining regional stability and strengthening synergy between the police, government, traditional leaders, and the community.
One notable success was the resolution of a boundary dispute between Buruan Traditional Village and Sesandan Traditional Village ahead of the Nyepi Day in March 202lar. The conflict arose when residents of Buruan Traditional Village attempted to install ‘jegeg-bagus’ statues in preparation for the Ngenteg Linggih ceremony, an action rejected by Sesandan residents who claimed the location fell within their territory.
Tensions between the two traditional villages escalated, prompting the Tabanan Police to facilitate mediation by bringing both parties to the Tabanan Police Headquarters. The process was also attended by the Regent of Tabanan, I Komang Gede Sanjaya.
Through the mediation initiated by the Tabanan Police, both traditional villages reached an agreement and committed to maintaining a safe and conducive situation. This resolution serves as a model for conflict resolution based on dialogue that is accepted by all parties.
Another success was demonstrated in handling the controversy regarding the installation of corrugated iron and black plastic in the Jatiluwih Subak area, which had drawn significant public attention. In this matter, the Tabanan Police played a role in maintaining public order while the local government sought solutions regarding business permits in the tourist area.
AKBP Bayu Pati also brought together accommodation entrepreneurs in Jatiluwih with relevant stakeholders to ensure the resolution process remained safe, peaceful, and focused on deliberation.
The dialogic, collaborative, and problem-solving approach implemented by the Tabanan Police is seen as a reflection of the ‘Polri Presisi’ implementation in maintaining security stability and strengthening community unity.
In addition to prioritising mediation, AKBP Bayu Pati has optimised the ‘Jumat Curhat’ (Friday Confession) programme as a space to accommodate community aspirations, particularly regarding security and order. He also consistently runs the ‘Minggu Kasih’ (Compassion Sunday) programme to assist community members in need of police support.
