AKBP Bayu Pati Awarded for Conflict Mediation in Tabanan
Tabanan Police Chief AKBP I Putu Bayu Pati received the Anugerah Figur Akselerator Kemajuan award in the Conflict Resolution Facilitator category at the detikBali-Nusra Awards 2026. The award was accepted by Deputy Police Chief Kompol I Ketut Tomiyasa on behalf of AKBP Bayu Pati at The Trans Resort Bali on Friday (3/7/2026). The award recognises his success in prioritising deliberation and mediation to resolve various social conflicts in Tabanan Regency. This approach is considered effective in maintaining regional stability while strengthening synergy between the police, government, traditional leaders, and the community. One notable achievement was resolving a boundary dispute between Buruan Traditional Village and Sesandan Traditional Village ahead of Nyepi in March 2026. The conflict began when Buruan residents attempted to install jegeg-bagus statues for the Ngenteg Linggih ceremony, but were rejected by Sesandan residents who claimed the location as their territory. Tensions escalated before the Tabanan Police facilitated mediation at the police headquarters, attended by both parties and Tabanan Regent I Komang Gede Sanjaya. Through the police-initiated mediation, both traditional villages reached an understanding and committed to maintaining a safe and conducive situation. The resolution became an example of dialogue-based conflict resolution accepted by all parties. Another success was demonstrated in handling the controversy over the installation of zinc and black plastic sheeting in the Subak Jatiluwih area, which had drawn public attention. The Tabanan Police played a role in maintaining security and public order while the local government sought a solution regarding business permits in the tourist area. AKBP Bayu Pati also brought together accommodation entrepreneurs in Jatiluwih with stakeholders to ensure the resolution process remained safe, peaceful, and prioritised deliberation. The dialogical, collaborative, and problem-solving approach applied by the Tabanan Police is seen as reflecting the implementation of Precision Policing in maintaining security stability while strengthening community unity. In addition to prioritising mediation in conflict resolution, AKBP Bayu Pati also optimised the Jumat Curhat programme as a space to accommodate public aspirations, particularly regarding security and order. He also consistently runs the Minggu Kasih programme to assist communities in need of police support.
