San Francisco, ANTARA/PRNewswire — Akash Systems, Inc., a pioneer of Diamond Cooling® technology for AI servers and other high-heat electronic components, announced the launch and availability of the world’s first AI server equipped with a diamond-based cooling system using AMD Instinct™ MI350X GPUs, produced by MiTAC Computing (3706.TW). For the first time, Diamond Cooling® technology will be used commercially on AMD Instinct™ GPUs in AI data centres. Akash plans to roll out Diamond Cooling® for other AMD Instinct systems later this year, including AMD Instinct MI355X and next‑generation AMD Instinct GPUs.

Diamond has the highest thermal conductivity among known materials, capable of conducting heat five times faster than copper, which has long been the industry standard for thermal management. As a new cooling technology, Akash’s Diamond Cooling® complements the air- and liquid-cooling technologies already in use. The technology has even been used outside Earth, and is currently operating on active satellite systems.

With temperature reductions of up to 10°C (18°F) on the GPU and High Bandwidth Memory (HBM), data centres gain substantially greater compute capacity from the same power envelope. This enhances energy efficiency and capital efficiency, data centre Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE), compute density, and overall return on investment (ROI).

With throttle-free performance, FLOPs per Watt increases by up to 22%, enabling customers to optimise compute density and gain additional capacity in both new and existing data centres. With this technology, data centres can operate energy savings of up to 100% for cooling while maintaining high performance at data centre ambient temperatures up to around 120°F. Akash’s tests also show throughput increases of up to 15%. By leveraging these gains, each Diamond Cooling®-enabled server can deliver up to US$1 million in additional value over four years compared with a server without the technology.

“AI demand is growing far faster than the infrastructure supporting it,” said Dr. Felix Ejeckam, Co‑Founder & CEO of Akash Systems. “Our patented solution addresses heat bottlenecks in computing systems, accelerating more cost-effective AI deployment. With AMD and MiTAC, we are delivering world-class technology to lay the foundation for AI to scale more broadly.”

The new server is produced and deployed through a collaboration with MiTAC Computing, a company known as a provider of AI servers, High Performance Computing (HPC), and energy-efficient server solutions. The server is also covered by standard warranties from AMD and the device manufacturers.

“Akash Systems’ Diamond Cooling® technology demonstrates that innovation can unlock new performance and efficiency potential for AMD Instinct™ GPUs,” said Travis Karr, Corporate Vice President, Commercial and Enterprise AI Business, AMD. “Backed by MiTAC’s global deployment capabilities, we help data centres increase compute density while achieving significant energy efficiency.”

“With global manufacturing capacity and strong engineering capabilities, AI data centres and hyperscalers worldwide are rapidly deploying systems with very high performance and energy efficiency to boost compute power and competitiveness,” said Rick Hwang, President, MiTAC Computing.

Through this collaboration, the first MiTAC Diamond Cooled AI server from Akash using AMD Instinct™ MI350X Series GPUs offers meaningful benefits for a range of compute-intensive applications. The Diamond Cooling® technology also keeps GPU temperatures low, prevents thermal throttling, and extends hardware lifespan.

The MiTAC server also features two AMD EPYC™ 9005 fifth-generation processors, AMD Pensando™ Pollara 400 AI NIC, and the latest AMD ROCm™ software stack, delivering high throughput and an open software ecosystem. This enables data centres to accelerate AI workloads while scaling sustainably.
