Two men who went viral on social media for challenging other motorists in Yogyakarta have surrendered to the police. In a video uploaded to Instagram, the pair were seen riding against the flow of traffic and running a red light. When confronted by another road user who was recording them, the man in the black shirt made a challenging hand gesture. The two then sped off after realising their actions were being filmed. The video caption stated the incident occurred along Jalan C Simanjuntak, Terban, Yogyakarta City, on Sunday evening, 28 June. The caption also noted that the men were not wearing helmets and had obscured their licence plate.

A subsequent post showed the two men at the Yogyakarta Police Station (Polresta Jogja), where they offered a clarification and apology for their viral actions. The post stated that the individuals could not sleep and ultimately decided to surrender to the police. Ps Kasi Humas of Polresta Jogja, Iptu Dani Hasan, confirmed the incident and said the perpetrators came to the station on their own initiative.

The two men were identified by their initials: A (26), a resident of Wirobrajan, Yogyakarta, who was driving the motorcycle, and his passenger R (30), from Wonosari, Gunungkidul. Iptu Dani Hasan stated that the perpetrators were subjected to enforcement action and issued traffic tickets. They were charged under multiple articles of Law No. 22 of 2009 on Road Traffic and Transport, including violations for not wearing helmets, driving against the flow of traffic, running a red light, and licence plate infractions.
