Akamai Brings AI to Guardicore Segmentation, Simplifying Zero Trust Implementation

Cybersecurity and cloud computing company Akamai has introduced new artificial intelligence (AI)-based capabilities for its Guardicore Segmentation solution. Akamai Guardicore Segmentation is a network security solution that helps companies limit the spread of cyber attacks within their systems by dividing the network into small segments (microsegmentation) and controlling interconnections. This update is claimed to make it easier for organisations to implement Zero Trust security concepts. Through this new feature, Akamai uses AI to automatically identify, analyse, and understand application behaviours. From this analysis, the system can directly generate deployable security policies without extensive manual processes. Several improvements in Guardicore Segmentation include real-time monitoring capabilities, allowing security teams to immediately view network activities. Additionally, AI can understand patterns of inter-application behaviours and formulate appropriate security policies. Another feature enables policy simulation before deployment, ensuring that created rules do not disrupt system operations. Akamai has also introduced a continuous risk analysis system. This technology links potential threat findings to security policies, enabling faster responses. Moreover, this update involves application owners in the policy approval process through a dedicated portal, which is said to speed up implementation without hindering business processes. “Those insights serve as guidance in developing the enhancements to Akamai Guardicore Segmentation, which applies AI-based segmentation across the entire risk control cycle,” said Wolf in an official statement received by KompasTekno. Guardicore Segmentation itself is designed to support various modern IT environments, from hybrid systems and cloud to AI-based workloads. The solution is intended to help organisations reduce risks from attacks such as lateral movement and ransomware.
