Ajib retains WBF junior title

JAKARTA (JP): Indonesia's Ajib Albarado retained his World Boxing Federation junior welterweight title against Umnard Sukhathai of Thailand in a bout here Wednesday night.

The Thai's coach Thakoon Pongsupha threw the towel into the ring after Umnard fell for the sixth time in round four.

Antara reported that in the first and the second rounds Umnard fell twice and in the third round the Thai, who bluffed in the pre-fight press conference that he would knock out Ajib in the sixth round, fell again.

In the first minute of round four, an Ajib uppercut that downed Umnard which prompted the Thai coach to signal the surrender.

Earlier, on the undercard, Andrian Kaspari of Indonesia won a points decision against challenger Pornchai Orathai of Thailand. (yan)
