Ajaib Secures Rp 4.8 Trillion Injection from SBI Holdings, Here's How It Will Be Used
Ajaib Group has secured a strategic investment of US$270 million, or approximately Rp4.8 trillion, from Japanese financial giant SBI Holdings, announced on Monday (31/8/2026). The funding represents the largest investment received by an Indonesian technology company in more than five years.
“This is the largest investment in the last five years for startups, Rp4.8 trillion or US$270 million from a major group, SBI Holdings from Japan,” said Ajaib’s President Commissioner, Andi Gani Nena Wea, during a press conference at the office of PT Ajaib Teknologi Indonesia in Jakarta on Monday (31/8/2026).
According to Andi, SBI Holdings’ investment in Ajaib Group also dispels the notion that foreign investors are becoming reluctant to invest in Indonesia’s capital market. The investment is seen as reflecting continued strong investor interest in Indonesia’s economic ecosystem.
Meanwhile, Ajaib Co-Founder and CEO Anderson Sumarli said the strategic investment will be used to expand domestic talent recruitment. The funding is expected to contribute to the growth of Indonesia’s technology industry and the broader economy.
“We believe the quality of Indonesian talent is on par with the best in the world, and we hope this level of trust paves the way for more global capital to enter Indonesia’s technology sector,” Anderson said.
Anderson expressed hope that the investment will also help create quality jobs across several technology sectors, including artificial intelligence, data centres, and blockchain.
Anderson noted that the development of the digital economy and the support of the Indonesian government and regulators have been important factors in opening up new business opportunities and innovation in the digital finance sector.
“Today the world sees how advanced the Indonesian government and regulators are in thinking about the future of digital finance. So we are seen as a place and an opportunity to create new capital businesses and new innovations for Indonesia’s young people,” he said.
The Rp4.8 trillion investment from SBI Holdings is also supported by Ajaib’s user base, which now stands at approximately seven million users, the majority of whom are retail investors.
