Ajaib Secures Rp 4.8 Trillion from Japan, Largest Startup Investment in 5 Years
Ajaib Group has become the startup with the largest investment in Indonesia over the past five years. The investment services provider is known to have received US$270 million, or approximately Rp 4.78 trillion (assuming an exchange rate of Rp 17,723), from Japanese financial giant SBI Holdings.
“This is the largest investment in the last five years for a startup, Rp 4.8 trillion, US$270 million from a major group, SBI Holdings from Japan,” said Ajaib Group President Commissioner Andi Gani Nena Wea during a press conference at the PT Ajaib Teknologi Indonesia office in Jakarta on Monday (31/8/2026).
Andi believes that SBI Holdings’ investment in Ajaib Group answers rumours suggesting that foreign investors are reluctant to put capital into Indonesia’s capital market. According to him, this also demonstrates the high level of investor interest in Indonesia’s ecosystem.
Through this investment, Andi hopes Ajaib Group can improve its services for investors, particularly retail investors. This is because the majority of Ajaib users are retail investors who are not from major cities.
“The advancement of financial technology education has reached cities spread across Indonesia. We will explain the technical data we have later, and this is a step forward. We hope that with the entry of this large investment into the startup investment world, it will boost morale amid many rumours of foreign investment fleeing stock trading in Indonesia. But the proof is that Rp 4.8 trillion has entered Ajaib Group,” he explained.
Co-Founder and CEO of Ajaib Group Anderson Sumarli explained that the company’s total raised capital has reached US$500 million, or approximately Rp 8.87 trillion. The investment funds from SBI Holdings will be allocated to create jobs and develop Ajaib Group’s human resources.
In addition, the investment funds will also be allocated for product development within the Ajaib application. This step is being taken to add alternative investment instruments, such as foreign stocks and digital assets.
“We hope that this level of trust will pave the way for more global capital to enter Indonesia’s technology sector and create quality jobs in the artificial intelligence industry, the data centre industry, and the blockchain industry,” Anderson explained.
