Aiwa opens new plant in RI
JAKARTA (JP): PT Aiwa Indonesia, a joint venture between Aiwa Singapore Ltd. and Singamip Enterprise Pte. Ltd., yesterday officially opened its electronic goods manufacturing plant in Sukabumi, West Java.
The new plant, which was completed in February with a total investment of 1 billion yen (about $10 million), including $4 million in capital, manufactures and assembles small audio equipment and mechanical parts.
Aiwa Singapore owns 87.5 percent of Aiwa Indonesia's shares, while Singamip owns the remaining 12.5 percent.
The factory, which started operations at the beginning of April, was officially opened by the director of the Aiwa Group, Unoki Hajime, in a ceremony also attended by Minister of Industry and Trade Tunky Ariwibowo.
The factory employs 1,600 workers at its 76,000-square meter site, located 100 km south of Jakarta. (pwn)
