The Regional Leadership of ’Aisyiyah (PDA) Klaten Regency has officially soft-opened Aisyi Tower Klaten, the first hotel owned and managed by the Muhammadiyah women’s organisation. The launch, coinciding with the Islamic New Year 1 Muharram 1448 Hijriyah on Tuesday (16/6/2026), marks the birth of a new charitable enterprise in the hospitality sector and symbolises the strengthening of ’Aisyiyah’s economic independence.

Chairperson of the Central Board of ’Aisyiyah, Salmah Orbayinah, described the presence of Aisyi Tower as a major leap in the development of economic charitable ventures. She said the courage of PDA Klaten in introducing a hotel as a new business unit deserves appreciation as it is the first within the ’Aisyiyah network. “This is ’Aisyiyah’s first charitable venture in hospitality. I am proud and grateful because PDA Klaten dared to make an extraordinary leap in economic enterprise. Hopefully, this is not the last, and in the future, even greater new innovations will emerge,” she stated.

Salmah stressed that all Muhammadiyah and ’Aisyiyah charitable enterprises must be managed professionally and be capable of generating profit. However, the profit is not solely for business interests but will be reinvested to support the organisation’s goals and missionary work. She added that the hotel must also serve as a means of dakwah through excellent service. She reminded that Aisyi Tower should not only focus on accommodation services but also keep pace with developments in the hospitality industry through service digitalisation, implementing eco-friendly hotel concepts, and providing facilities that meet the needs of modern society, such as meeting rooms and co-working spaces.

“A clean hotel is dakwah. A comfortable room is dakwah. A well-organised environment is dakwah. Employees who are polite, friendly, honest, and safeguard customer trust are also a tangible form of dakwah. Through good service, the public will experience Islamic values in daily life,” she said. “May Aisyi Tower provide broad benefits to the community and become a major step in the development of Muhammadiyah’s charitable enterprises.”

Chairperson of PDA Klaten, Sri Mulyani Rahayuningsih, said Aisyi Tower is the result of a long endeavour to strengthen the organisation’s economic independence while delivering wider benefits to society. Beyond meeting accommodation and meeting needs, the hotel is encouraged to drive the local economy. She explained that 85 per cent of the recruited workforce comes from Klaten. The security sector involves Muhammadiyah cadres from the Muhammadiyah Youth Readiness Command (Kokam), and the hotel’s consumption needs are supplied by local businesses. “We hope Aisyi Tower can have a positive impact in the social and economic fields,” she said.

President Director of PT Syarikat Cahaya Media (SCM), Deni Asy’ari, called Aisyi Tower the new face of Muhammadiyah women’s business, born from a spirit of mutual cooperation and independence. He stated that the hotel was built entirely with internal financing without relying on bank loans. “Aisyi Tower was purely established with ’Aisyiyah’s internal finances. We want to show that as long as internal effort and consolidation exist, we can present a large charitable enterprise without depending on bank debt,” Deni said.

In addition to offering lodging services, Aisyi Tower also embraces a literacy hotel concept by providing various reading materials and educational spaces for guests. This concept is expected to be a distinguishing feature while strengthening the hotel’s identity as part of the dakwah and enlightenment movement. In a video message, Chairperson of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah, Haedar Nashir, welcomed the presence of Aisyi Tower as tangible proof that organisational independence can be realised through concrete works and professional business management. He emphasised that Muhammadiyah and ’Aisyiyah must continue to strengthen independence by building their own strength while forging productive collaborations. “Aisyi Tower Klaten is a manifestation of dakwah efforts in the economic field as well as a realisation of Muhammadiyah and ’Aisyiyah’s endeavour to continue building organisational independence,” Haedar said.
