Aismoli Welcomes Government's Incentive Plan for One Million Electric Motorcycles

The Indonesian Electric Motorcycle Industry Association (Aismoli) has welcomed the government’s plan to provide incentives for one million electric motorcycles produced domestically.

Aismoli Secretary General Hanggoro Ananta Khrisna said incentives could serve as an instrument to encourage the public to switch to electric vehicles while strengthening the national electric vehicle industry.

According to Hanggoro, incentive policies for electric vehicles are not new. A similar programme implemented in 2023-2024 showed an increase in public interest in electric motorcycles.

“With the purchase assistance for electric motorcycles, adoption increased quite rapidly,” Hanggoro said on Friday (14/8/2026).

Despite welcoming the plan, Aismoli is still awaiting clarity on the form and mechanism of the incentives to be implemented by the government. Hanggoro said the type of assistance, target recipients, and distribution mechanism will determine how effective the policy is in boosting sales and use of electric motorcycles.

“It will depend on the mechanism or type of incentive the government will provide,” he said.

Aismoli also expressed readiness to provide input if the government involves industry players in policy discussions. According to the association, input from industry is needed so that the scheme is aligned with market conditions and consumer needs.

“We certainly welcome it very much and everyone is ready to support this,” Hanggoro said.

Previously, President Prabowo Subianto announced a plan to provide incentives for one million electric motorcycles produced domestically by Indonesian entrepreneurs. The announcement was made by Prabowo in his state address at the Parliament Complex in Jakarta on Friday. The policy is aimed at expanding the use of electric vehicles while also having an impact on the domestic industry.
