AISMOLI pushes for subsidies in electric motorcycle purchases
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Electric Motorcycle Industry Association (AISMOLI) is pushing the government to introduce subsidies for electric motorcycle purchases in 2026 to boost the use of electric vehicles.
“AISMOLI, as an association, is urging the immediate implementation of the electric motorcycle subsidies announced by the government to avoid a hold-buying effect and to support easily understandable non-fiscal policies for the public,” said AISMOLI Public Relations & Events Executive Riniwaty Sinaga when contacted in Jakarta on Thursday.
She explained that delaying the subsidy policy could lead consumers to postpone purchasing electric vehicles.
This situation could impact efforts to increase the adoption of more environmentally friendly electric vehicles.
In addition to pushing for subsidies, AISMOLI is promoting the use of electric motorcycles to make vehicle operational costs more efficient in services such as online ride-hailing and couriers, as well as corporate operations.
“AISMOLI is actively campaigning on the benefits of operational cost savings for electric motorcycles, focusing on the online ride-hailing, logistics courier, and corporate fleet segments, which provide the quickest and most measurable impact,” said Rini.
The industry association is also advocating for the implementation of more flexible financing schemes for electric motorcycle purchases.
“At the ecosystem level, AISMOLI is actively coordinating with the government on the implementation of the domestic content roadmap and strengthening national charging infrastructure,” said Rini, referring to the domestic content level roadmap.
The government is currently reviewing the application of incentives to encourage increased use of electric motorcycles.
Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa stated the government’s plan to provide subsidies of around Rp5 million per unit for electric motorcycle purchases in 2026.
According to him, the subsidies for electric motorcycle purchases are planned to be rolled out gradually.
