Airports suffer losses
JAKARTA (JP): Four airports, in Solo of Central Java, Manado
of North Sulawesi, Biak of Irian Jaya and Balikpapan of East
Kalimantan, suffered losses last year, president of the state-
owned airport firm, PT Angkasa Pura I, Fachri Zainuddin, said
yesterday.
"Although there were four airports suffering losses last year,
Angkasa Pura I gained a total profit of Rp 57 billion (US$25.99
million), slightly higher than 1993's profit of Rp 53 billion,"
Fachri told reporters after a ground-breaking ceremony for the
construction of the company's Jakarta office building.
He refused to disclose the amount of losses suffered by the
four airports.
Angkasa Pura I manages nine airports, including Ngurah Rai in
Bali, Hasanudin in Ujungpandang of South Sulawesi, Juanda in
Surabaya of East Java, Sepinggan in Balikpapan, Frans Kaisiepo in
Biak, Sam Ratulangi in Manado, Syamsudin Noor in Banjarmasin of
South Kalimantan, Adisucipto in Yogyakarta and Adisumarmo in
Solo.
The company will manage three more airports in April,
including Pattimura in Ambon of Maluku, Ahmad Yani in Semarang of
Central Java and Selaparang in Lombok of West Nusa Tenggara.
Fachri also said that this year his company expects a higher
profit -- Rp 70 billion.
He said that Angkasa Pura I's five-story office building will
be constructed with an investment of Rp 16.4 billion. (icn)
