Airport reduces tax due to fuel hike
SURABAYA, East Java: As part of attempts to offset the effects of
the fuel price increases, the operator of Juanda Airport has
slashed its departure tax to Rp 25,000 from Rp 30,000 a
passenger.
"The tax reduction will help ease people's burden," said
Bambang Utomo, the general manager of PT Angkasa Pura I, the
airport operator. The new tax rate came into effect on Sunday.
The number of passenger arrivals and departures at Juanda
Airport was 9,500 a day on average between August and September.
In October, the number was down to some 7,500 a day. -- Antara
