Airport Dimensions accelerates expansion in Asia-Pacific with opening of the Blue Sky Premier International Lounge at Juanda International Airport
Surabaya, Indonesia, (ANTARA/PRNewswire) - Airport Dimensions, a leading airport experience provider, is strengthening its position in the Asia-Pacific region at a rapid pace, with development initiatives covering Hong Kong, Jakarta, and Vietnam. Today it officially announced the opening of the Blue Sky Premier Lounge at Terminal International (T2) Juanda International Airport, Surabaya. This opening marks a milestone in APAC Airport Dimensions’ strategy, following the success of the Blue Sky Premier Lounge at Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. The facility in Jakarta has become a benchmark for the partnership between Airport Dimensions and Blue Sky Group, blending local relevance with world-class hospitality standards to serve Indonesia’s dynamic travel market. The success of this partnership has been further reinforced in Makassar, where the Blue Sky Premier Lounge has earned more than 3,000 five-star Google reviews since its opening in August. This demonstrates a strong product-market fit and a clear understanding of evolving traveller expectations. The debut of the Blue Sky Premier International Lounge in Surabaya marks the third collaboration between Airport Dimensions and Blue Sky Group. Spanning 462 square metres and accommodating up to 101 guests, the lounge is a modern waypoint inspired by Surabaya’s identity as the ‘Hero City’, combined with Western influence and warm, soft wooden elements as a representation of Indonesia’s elegant tradition, including batik displays as a tribute to the resilience of the Hero City. It offers a range of local specialties blended with international standards. Guests can enjoy interactive dining with live cooking, from eggs, pasta, and noodles to a local steamboat representing the Asian dining spirit of togetherness. It also features iconic local dishes such as Surabaya Rawon, offering the authentic flavours of East Java, alongside the Blue Sky Mantao, a soft mantao reflecting the Chinese-Indonesian culinary heritage of the city. These local dishes are served alongside a selection of top global menus, allowing guests to enjoy a variety from Nusantara and beyond. The experience is completed with premium local coffee and a professionally run bar, delivering a luxurious service journey from arrival to departure. The seating area adopts an open-space theme directly connected to the food and beverage area, encouraging guests to eat, mingle, or simply relax in a lively yet comfortable atmosphere. It is equipped with a quieter area—a workspace—so guests can focus on work or private moments. The lounge delivers a dynamic and spacious ambience that perfectly serves the needs of both business and leisure travellers. Errol McGlothan, President of Airport Dimensions, EMEA & APAC, commented: ‘Air travel in Southeast Asia is growing rapidly, with secondary cities like Surabaya playing an increasingly important role in international connectivity. That growth brings a diverse mix of travellers—from morning regional departures to long-haul connections, business travellers, and families—creating new demands for airport experiences. Through our work across Indonesia and the Asia-Pacific region, we have seen firsthand how expectations are evolving: people want spaces to rest, quality food, areas to work, and environments that support every kind of journey. This lounge reflects that understanding, responding to how people travel today while delivering the global standard expected by international passengers.’ Sucin Rahayu, Director of PT Bumi Liputan Angkasa (Blue Sky Group), adds: ‘At Blue Sky Group, our mission is to always showcase the finest Indonesian hospitality to the world. Opening an international lounge in Surabaya with Airport Dimensions is a proud moment for us, as it allows us to fuse the region’s tenacity and heritage with world-class service standards. We have infused our local expertise into every detail—from batik-inspired interiors to traditional flavours, and in our menu offerings we present East Java’s local dishes alongside international selections so that guests, from arrival to departure, will have an unforgettable experience.’ Access to the Blue Sky Premier Lounge is now open to all passengers, regardless of airline or ticket class, offering a premium experience for every traveller. Access is available to Priority Pass members, a leading travel and airport lounge experience programme, and LoungeKey cardholders. Walk-in passengers can also enter for Rp330,000 per person, with additional access available through advance reservations via the reservation hotline or partner programme membership, subject to availability. The debut success in Surabaya serves as a strong blueprint for Airport Dimensions’ regional strategy, building on the Kyra Lounge launch at Hong Kong International Airport, which won the Priority Pass Best Lounge in Asia-Pacific award. This momentum is also reflected in Vietnam, where the company recently celebrated the upgraded Rose Business Lounge at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City in partnership with SASCO. Growth in Vietnam is further evidenced by recent announcements regarding Vietnam’s expansion.
