Airport chief killed in accident
DILI: Dili's airport commander, Lt. Col. Daniel Parinding, was killed yesterday when his motorized hang glider crashed.
Airport officials said the accident happened at about 9 a.m. when the glider was about 60 meters up in the air.
"The glider was shaky before it crashed," an eyewitness said.
Daniel had been in his post since April 1, 1996.
He was rushed to Wira Husada hospital, but died on the way.
Daniel was born in Palu, Central Sulawesi on April 23, 1955 and graduated from Military Academy in 1981.
He is survived by a wife and two children. His body will be buried in Tana Toraja today. (33/sur)
