Airlangga's Press Conference Falls Silent Due to Power Outage - Kumparan

A power outage occurred in several areas of Jakarta on Thursday morning (23/4), including during the Press Conference on First-Quarter 2026 Investment Realisation at the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM Office in South Jakarta. The press conference was attended by Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Airlangga Hartarto, Investment Minister/Head of BKPM Rosan Roeslani, and Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti. The presentation, which began at 10:00 WIB, proceeded normally at first. However, when it was the turn of BPS Head Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti to present on the Indonesian Standard Industrial Classification (KBLI), the power supply suddenly cut out, plunging the entire room into darkness. The atmosphere immediately fell silent as participants, including the officials in the midst of presenting the material, were momentarily confused by the blackout. Shortly afterwards, the power was restored within seconds. The event was paused briefly and resumed about five minutes later once conditions returned to normal. PT PLN (Persero) has commented on the power outage in several Jakarta areas. Senior Manager of Communication and Public Relations for PLN UID Jakarta Raya, Haris Andika, stated that this occurred due to a disruption in the power supply. “A disruption in the power supply occurred, impacting several areas in Jakarta. PLN is focused on restoration efforts,” said Haris on Thursday (23/4). PLN asked the public to remain calm and continue monitoring developments. “Updates on electricity service conditions can be provided through the PLN Mobile app and PLN Contact Center 123,” he added.
